THE STRATEGIC
VOYAGE'S STORY

Matt Wilhelmi founded Strategic Voyages in 2018 from a spare bedroom at his father’s house in Geneva. He built his client base by cold calling on business bankers and commercial lenders who needed financial workout support, turnaround consulting, and fractional CFO support for their clients. He also published Taboo Business Questions in 2019 which aims to ask critical thinking questions that cause entrepreneurs to focus on the blindspots in their business. Today, Strategic Voyages has supported hundreds of clients across the country and is looking for more success stories.

MATT'S BACKGROUND

Matt spent time at Chase Bank and US Bank where he supported small businesses with their banking needs and business lending. After growing tired of the corporate limitations on the support and advice allowed to be given to clients, Matt turned to business consulting. He spent 3 years at an accounting firm where he found, integrated, and supported the funding of 3 acquisitions which took the annual revenue of the firm from $200K to over $2M, annually. Shortly after starting Strategic Voyages, Matt met with a hedge fund in New York that needed outsourced CFO Services for their clientele across the country and Matt’s business expanded to handle the influx of clients. He’s been called “The Growth Strategist,” “The Remote Controller,” and “The Wizard of Business Finance.”

I met Matt in 2019 and with his team’s help, I can now pass along a profitable enterprise to my son to carry on the family business.” -Michael

Presenting Issue: Too many projects, too much work, lack of financial controls in place to manage Process: SV Analysis and 4 hour strategy session. 4 on-site visits, met with their team and created a functional organizational chart with position guides. Results: Software that talks to each other, transparency into financial forecasting and job costing. “When I told my banker we needed a CFO, he didn’t hesitate in recommending Matt and his company. His exact words, “You might not need to spend the money on a full-time CFO just yet. I’d call Matt first” and thank goodness we did. He got our Quickbooks to talk to our Project Management Tool which streamlined our entire project management process.” - Gabriel
